Martos Classic Car Show 2024

The Martos Classic Car Show, an annual event organised by the club Amantes del Motor “Ciudad de Martos” with collaboration from the Martos Town Hall, attracts participants from various Spanish localities. Known as one of the most participative events in the province of Jaén, the event showcases car brands popular in Spain like SEAT and Citroën, with relatively few foreign cars.

My Love of Classic Cars

I have liked old classic cars for as long as I can remember. My first car was a Morris Minor, and I have had a soft spot for them ever since.

Before moving to Spain in 2017, I had three Morris Minors in the UK: a saloon, a van and a convertible. The saloon was pretty standard. I upgraded the van to a 1300CC engine, 5-speed gearbox, disc brakes, an uprated rear differential, and comfortable seats… You get the picture. It generally kept up with modern traffic and was easy and comfortable to drive.

The convertible was another matter. That was bonkers – a Fiat 2-litre twin cam engine, a Fiat 5-speed gearbox, a Toyota Celica limited-slip differential, uprated brakes… and I took out the rear seat to fit a wall of speakers. So it effectively was a two-seater… that could sure go… a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Unfortunately, it wasn’t practical to take them to Spain, so I had to sell them 😢

Film Photo Details

But I digress. Since moving to Spain, I haven’t been to a Classic Car Show or had any involvement with classic cars. I was delighted to hear about one nearby, so I set off, armed with my Zeiss Ikon Ikoflex IIa 855/16 camera, loaded with Kentmere 100 film. I thought the Ikoflex was the perfect choice – a vintage camera and classic cars.

I developed the film in Spur Acurol-N, 1+70, for 9 minutes @20C.

The photos were digitised using a Nikon Zf mirrorless digital camera with a Tokina AT-X Pro Macro 100mm f2.8 D lens and processed using Capture One software.

But, enough talk, let’s look at the photos I took…
